BUILDING A SISTERHOOD OF SERVANTS (S.O.S.) TEAM

There is an old adage that states “many hands make light work.” This statement couldn’t be more accurate when it comes to developing and implementing service projects. Goals are generally reached in quicker fashion when they are tackled by people who have the same purpose and are willing to lend a hand.

Listed below are a few tips to keep in mind when getting a team of women together to implement your plans:

#1 Stop everything — Turn off the motor of your busy life. Find a place to be quiet with your thoughts. Pray. Ask God to guide your path.

#2 Consider Yourself — Make a list of your positive personality/character traits and areas of giftedness. Think beyond your favorite hobbies. These are good, but include broad abstract traits like organizational skills, loyalty, listening, compassion. How can you put these traits to use in implementing your service project?

#3 Make a list of women in your circle of influence - (don’t include your mother or sisters. They are a given). This list should be comprised of women you know you can call on in time of need.

#4 From this group of women, make a list of their positive character traits that contribute to your quality of life. What makes them special to you? What leadership capacity do you envision for each of them?

You have now have a list of women who make up your own personal S.O.S. circle (click here to find out more about the women in my circle).

ACTIVATE THE CIRCLE:
• Schedule a time and place to meet as a group
• Share your burden with each woman and invite her to attend a leadership and planning meeting to discuss your particular project and establish goals.
