Women's Ministry
A Sisterhood of Servants
Welcome to real women's ministry. A sisterhood of servants women’s ministry seeks to celebrate the achievements attained by women through their selfless acts of service. This type of women's ministry is composed of an organized group of ladies who come together on the basis of shared concerns, experiences and objectives with the principle desire to give aid or service to others. Deliberate efforts will be made to chronicle the impact and influence this women’s ministry has in the community. There is perhaps one predominate image that comes to mind when describing a women’s ministry. The picture of religious organizations promoting programs which focus on the needs of ladies in their congregations would be foremost in the minds of many. While these programs are useful tools for bringing ladies together, the women’s ministry that I envision will be far reaching into the community as a whole and make an impact on future generations.
THE PRIMARY GOALS OF THIS WEBSITE ARE THREEFOLD
Consider the following analogy between this type of women's ministry and the S.O.S symbol for help. Since their adoption in 1905, the letters S.O.S have been the commonly used description for the International Morse Code distress signal. Once this combination of symbols (. . . - - - . . .) was implemented, ship captains could instruct onboard radio operators to transmit this simple signal if the ship was in trouble, and help would be forthcoming. In modern times, people who are stranded use these same letters to indicate their urgent need for assistance. As women’s ministry is practiced today, there will be many times a woman feels as if she needs to display an S.O.S signal to other ladies in her circle of influence. It is easy to get overwhelmed trying to juggle all the important elements of life that require time and energy: family, career, finances, community service, etc. How refreshing it would be to know that there is group of ladies who will help share in these responsibilities should one feel the need to wave a symbolic distress signal flag with a cry of “help, I’m stranded and overwhelmed.” The request could also be “hey, I’ve got a great idea. Will you help me implement this?” Hence the acronym Sisterhood Of Servants women’s ministry. Even though the focus of women’s ministry is helping and serving others, just the benefit of simple fellowship and camaraderie with other women is a valuable investment of time and energy that will reap positive benefits now and in the future. Unity is the underlying "glue" of sisterhood. As sisters we must be united as we practice women's ministry, always keeping in mind the following principle: "solidarity breeds strength, but division breeds deficiency"
